Employment Opportunity: Membership Development Manager

The Membership Development Manager is responsible for driving the growth and retention of the Chamber’s membership base. This role involves proactive outreach to prospective members, fostering relationships with existing members and ensuring that all members derive value from their affiliation with the Chamber. The Membership Director will work closely with internal teams, volunteer committees and community stakeholders to uphold the Chamber's mission and enhance member satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Membership Recruitment

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to attract new members, focusing on key industry sectors and business sizes.
  • Conduct outreach through sales calls, in-person visits, networking events and referrals.
  • Present the benefits of Chamber membership to prospective members, tailoring the message to their specific needs.
  • Share the mission, vision and values of the Chamber to current members, prospective members and the community.
  • Maintain accurate records of all recruitment activities in Growthzone (the Chamber’s CRM).
  • Generate regular reports tracking recruitment, retention and engagement efforts, analyzing the data to identify trends and inform strategic decisions.
  • Achieve monthly and annual new member sales goals, as set in the Chamber’s 5-year strategic plan and business plan.

2. Membership Retention

  • Design and execute retention strategies to maintain a high membership renewal rate based on the Chamber’s 5-year strategic plan and business plan (currently set at 90%).
  • Identify at-risk members and develop personalized engagement plans to address their concerns.
  • Coordinate new member onboarding sessions to ensure seamless integration into the Chamber community.
  • Regularly communicate with members to solicit feedback and promote engagement opportunities.
  • Direct outreach to members that have not responded to renewal invoicing.

3. Member Engagement

  • Attend membership events, such as tip clubs, Business After Hours, ribbon cuttings and networking luncheons, as well as other Chamber events, to foster member relationships and invite prospects to join.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop sales materials that highlight member benefits and success stories.
  • Facilitate member-to-member connections and referrals to enhance the value of Chamber membership.
