Join us for our October Safety Council luncheon featuring Michael Kovacic, Occupational Safety Instructor, Consultant and President of ES Squared, Inc.
Lithium-ion batteries power many of the devices and systems we rely on every day, but damaged or improperly used, charged or stored batteries can create serious fire and explosion hazards. Michael will explain the risks associated with thermal runaway and share practical guidance on safe charging and storage, warning signs of battery failure, and proper recycling methods to help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery incidents.
BIO:
Michael Kovacic is a full-time Occupational Safety Instructor and Consultant with over 30 years of experience in the electrical safety industry. He has participated in and managed teams for safety audits, representing heavy industrial facilities for global corporations and government organizations. He is involved in the development of several computer database applications which aid in the record keeping and reporting portions of the assessment function. He has participated in arc flash hazard calculations for numerous facilities and has background in accident investigation and legal assistance. His extensive knowledge in electrical standards and regulations has enabled him to conduct standard and customized courses on the OSHA Standards, the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, and more numerous government organizations and major private corporations. He has authored electrical safety programs for major corporations and government entities around the world. He is a member of IAEI, IEEE and NFPA and a voting member of ASTM F-18 Committee.
