About

The Stark County Career Compact is a collaboration of four school districts which offer over 35 Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway programs to students in grades 7-12 at the following schools:

Jackson Local Schools - Jackson High School
Lake Local Schools - Lake High School, Lake Middle School
North Canton City Schools - Hoover High School, North Canton Middle School
Plain Local Schools - GlenOak High School, Oakwood Middle School

Students enrolled in pathway programs are encouraged to participate in Work-Based Learning opportunities with local partner businesses to gain "real-world" work and career experience, honing their professional skills while being provided with valuable insights in selecting an appropriate career path. Such opportunities include employment, job shadowing, internships, career speakers and field trips. Work-Based Learning guidelines are established by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

Partner businesses play an important role in shaping meaningful educational experiences for Ohio's students. These partnerships are vital to developing the future talent businesses need for Ohio's competitive edge, economic growth, sustainability and development.

By engaging students in work, training, apprenticeship and job shadowing opportunities at an earlier age, your company can begin to build future talent pipelines, which lead to employee retention and lower training costs in the long run.

In a Work-Based Learning partnership, your business will collaborate with Compact educational representatives to offer an experience that best suits your company and the student while gaining a generation of tech savvy employees possessing well developed professional skills at the forefront of technological advancements.

Please contact Kevin Hart, Career Development and Work-Based Learning Coordinator at Kevin.Hart@starkesc.org to learn how to develop a partnership with the Stark County Career Compact and how to craft high-quality Work-Based Learning experiences that benefit your business, our students and the community.
